Folkmordsolympiaden - Burmas och andras svar på Kinas reaktion på sista tidens protester för mänskliga rättigheter i Tibet

I Mizzima News stod (i urval) den 17 mars att läsa: ”Burmese monks call for stop to violence in Tibet. Chiang Mai – The 'International Burmese Monks Association' called on the Chinese authorities yesterday to stop using violence against Tibetan monks and people who are staging protests in Tibet. The Thai based Burmese monks association Vice-Chairman Ashin Pyinyar Tharmi said that raiding and sealing monasteries by the Chinese authorities in Tibet are identical to the activities by the Burmese junta in Burma. Sasana Moli General Secretary Ashin U Ottara said, The Chinese and Burmese governments are waging a holy war. We'd like to appeal to the world family to help us in stopping this war".

I BBC NEWS stod (i urval) den 17 mars att läsa:

CONDOLEEZZA RICE, US SECRETARY OF STATE: “We urge China to respect the fundamental and universally recognised right of all of its citizens to peacefully express their political and religious views, and we call on China to release monks and others who have been detained solely for the peaceful expression of their views.”

STATEMENT, FRENCH FOREIGN MINISTRY: “With the approach of the Olympic Games, which ought to be a great show of fraternity, France would like to draw the attention of the Chinese authorities to the importance of respecting human rights.”

PRANAB MUKHERJE, INDIAN FOREIGN MINISTER: “We are distressed by reports of the unsettled situation and violence in Lhasa and by the deaths of innocent people. We hope all those involved will work to improve the situation and remove the causes of such trouble in Tibet, which is an autonomous region of China, through dialogue and non-violent means.”

STATEMENT, GERMAN FOREIGN MINISTRY: “Everything must be done to prevent a further escalation of the situation and to enable a peaceful end to the conflict. Minister (Frank-Walter) Steinmeier calls on his Chinese counterparts to offer as much transparency as possible over the events in Tibet.”

KEVIN RUDD, AUSTRALIAN PRIME MINISTER: “These most recent developments in Tibet are disturbing and, from my point of view, I would call upon the Chinese authorities to exercise restraint.”

HELEN CLARK, NEW ZEALAND PRIME MINISTER: “We want to see an end to the violence. We have long urged China to engage in meaningful dialogue with representatives of the Tibetan people, as we think this is the best way to achieve a lasting resolution of problems in Tibet.”
